IA Foundation Donates $10,000 to Giant Steps Australia to Support Children on the Autism Spectrum

The IA Foundation is proud to announce its recent $10,000 donation to Giant Steps Australia, an organisation dedicated to providing life-changing support to children and young people on the autism spectrum. For families navigating the challenges of autism, access to the right services can make a profound difference in the quality of life for both children and their families.

IA Authorised Representative Brendan Sawyer has a deeply personal connection with Giant Steps. Three years ago, his sister's son was diagnosed with severe autism, a condition that requires high levels of support. Fortunately, he now attends Giant Steps Schooling, where he receives the intensive care he needs through a blend of learning and therapy.

"Giant Steps has made an incredible impact on my nephew’s life," Brendan shares. "The level of care and dedication they provide to each child is truly world-class. This donation is our way of helping them continue their incredible work, and it's something very close to my heart."

About Giant Steps Australia

Located in Gladesville, Giant Steps Australia is a registered charity offering specialised services for children and young adults on the autism spectrum. Their unique transdisciplinary approach integrates both teaching and therapy to meet the individual needs of each student, promoting both academic and personal development. From early intervention programs to post-school services, Giant Steps caters to students throughout various stages of life.

One of Giant Steps' standout features is its commitment to integrating therapeutic support into every aspect of the child’s education. Speech therapy, occupational therapy, and music therapy are just a few of the services embedded into the learning curriculum to ensure holistic development for each child. This intensive, personalised approach helps students gain the skills they need to navigate the world more independently and improves their quality of life and that of their families.

The Financial Gap

Running such a program comes with significant costs. Each year, Giant Steps operates with an annual budget of around $16 million. While the Australian government provides funding that covers approximately 70% of these operating costs, the remaining 30% is raised through donations and fundraising events.

This is where community support becomes essential. The generosity of corporate partners, families, and community donors plays a critical role in ensuring that Giant Steps can continue offering its life-changing services. The IA Foundation’s donation is a step towards closing this financial gap and helping sustain the programs that make such a meaningful difference.

Making a Difference

At IA Foundation, we believe in supporting organisations that have a lasting impact on communities. Our donation to Giant Steps is part of a broader commitment to uplifting organisations that provide essential services to those in need. By supporting Giant Steps, we are helping to ensure that children on the autism spectrum receive the care and support they need to thrive.

We encourage others to learn more about the vital work that Giant Steps does and consider how they too can contribute to this important cause. Together, through donations, community engagement, and awareness, we can help Giant Steps continue to deliver its world-class services to families who need it most.
